[TRANS] PINKY Magazine 3月: TVXQ tattletales... (Part 2)

Yunho ♥
My Goal for 2009
YH: First of all, I'd like to improve my Japanese-speaking ability. Also, I'd like to grow both emotionally and internally. In my private time I'd like to go to Las Vegas! I went before for work, but shooting while looking at the Grand Canyon and the wonderful scenery is something that really remains in my memories!

My Recent Favourite Item

YH: A hat I got from someone, by a brand called "Clover". When I want to look cool I use it to hide one of my eyes a little, and when I want to look cute and fashionable I push the hat to the back of my head and put on glasses. This is something I was taught by a famous fashion editor!

This Is What's Cool About Yunho!
YC: I think the part of him that properly protects his friends is really cool. I love the Yunho that treasures "a man's friendship".

JJ: He's manly! The bigness of all of Yunho's gestures and actions, that kind of thing is really cool. When he sings and when he dances, too.

JS: He's really professional and someone who will do his best and work hard for absolutely anything. I think that's wonderful.

CM: He's manly. He's a person who treasures friendship.

I Want Yunho To Stop Doing This!
YC: Lately it seems like he's been having various problems, and when he's off from work he's not with the members, but is constantly together with his friends. It makes me feel just a little lonely... I've been close to Yunho since the very beginning so I don't take it to heart, but let's contact each other a bit more. Whether it's time to have a meal or time to just talk, let's make more and more of them!

JJ: Sometimes his actions are too big, and when he talks or dances, there are times when he hits the people next to him (laughs)! Yunho totally doesn't notice. I have also been hit by him, a lot of times.

JS: The amount of things he forgets is outrageously huge~! His wallet, cellphone...there's just all sorts of stuff he quickly loses or forgets. The members worry at those times. It's fine since he always finds his things, but it's that kind of, there are so many things he forgets and loses that it's like if he loses everything he might be left with nothing.

CM: It would be good if he tidied up our room just a bit more! It's not just our room, he has this habit of messing things up anywhere he goes~

To Yunho: I Wasn't Able To Say It Before, But I Confess...
YC: Yunho invited me to have a meal with him and his friend who is a Korean entertainer. I promised I would go too, but when I got home I was really tired. I came to feel, "I'm not really in the mood..." and called him to turn him down. I'm sorry for not keeping my promise that time!

JJ: Don't talk on the phone in my bedroom! Yunho doesn't talk on the phone in his own room, he talks while going back and forth, here and there, between the other members' bedrooms and the living room and stuff. Whatever it is, in my bedroom, just don't talk on the phone there!!!!

JS: I know very well that being in the leader's position is really difficult, but...until now and in the future too, you've really done your best and will keep doing your best for Tohoshinki. I am grateful.

CM: I might look like the type of person who doesn't like tidying up, but I am extremely particular about cleanliness! Unexpectedly!! UNEXPECTEDLY!! Yunho scolds me too much for being like that. But I....can't say this to Yunho.

[TRANS] PINKY 3月: Counselor's Office

Fan 1: I am also interested in the boy my best friend likes. We're not dating, but we've been meeting up in secret and I feel guilty about it.

YH: Why Did I Fall In Love With You...........? (T/N: The title of their song, どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう 8D)

YC: Idiot~! Ahahaha!!!

JJ: *plainly* Men choose friendship over love!

YC: I'd give up on a girl if my best friend liked her, definitely.

JJ: I'd do something about it to make myself not fall in love with her. I'd look for all her bad points and give up.

PINKY: How about Junsu?

All: *burst out laughing*

JS: If I fell in love with her it would be a showdown! I would fight in order to obtain love.

YC: But isn't love not something to do with who wins or who's in the wrong?

JJ: That's certainly true. For example, if I ended up falling in love with the girl Yoochun liked, I'd say, "Yoochun, I'm going to give up on her so you definitely have to give her happiness." And then, if Yoochun broke up with her......I'd date her *laughs*! I'd say, "I'll give you happiness in Yoochun's place."

CM: Huhhhh...*sighs* I've always thought this, but....if that person really was a best friend I was really close to, a BEST FRIEND (T/N: said in English), I would give up on her first.

JS: Changmin is really that type of guy!

PINKY: Everyone, have you had that kind of experience? Where you stole your friend's girlfriend or something...Ah, you're grinning!!

CM: Me?!?! No, not me! IT'S NOT ME!!

JS: No, there was, but he only realized after doing it...

CM: I've never told Junsu that......

CM: But he's right...

JS: I know just by looking at your eyes...

YC: There was, there was something like that! The girl I liked had a boyfriend at first. When she broke up with him and was feeling really depressed, I started dating her myself!

YH: As for me, a long time ago, two months after I broke up with my girlfriend, my best friend started going out with her...

(The five members simultaneously start talking about their own stories)

PINKY: Um~ our reader's problem...?

YH: I think it might be good for her to talk to her best friend honestly about what's been going on. And I think she should confess to that guy about her feelings. If you like him that much, you should say so, after all. If would be better for you to give up on him soon.

YC: He may not be the guy of your destiny.

[Info] TVXQ is Number One on G-Music Chart

G-Music is a Taiwanese music chart, and in their 2008 album rankings, Mirotic came in first when the percentages were compared, and T came in 6th.

To make the first sentence of this post clear: This chart is only made up of Japanese and Korean artists because they seperated these Asian artists into a different category from artists who release mainly in Chinese. So yes, there are other albums that are number one, but in different categories

But this is still pretty exciting :].

[Info] Korean boy band's video showcases Saipan

SaipanTribune Monday, January 26, 2009

The sand, surf and scenery of tropical Saipan served as the backdrop for recent videotaping by popular East Asia boy band “TVXQ.”

Also marketed as Tohoshinki in Japan and Dong Bang Shin Ki or Dong Bang Shin Gi in Korea, TVXQ visited the Northern Mariana Islands on Jan. 13-17, 2009, to videotape for an upcoming music video and SBS TV, one of three major national channels in Korea.

With a band name roughly translated as “Rising Gods of the East,” TVXQ members Xiah, Micky, Hero, Max, and U-Know showcased several island locations during the taping, including the white sand beaches of Managaha Island and the scenic natural sites of the Grotto, Bird Island, Suicide Cliff and Banzai Cliff. They also visited the Korean Peace Memorial and highlighted the numerous outdoor sports activities available year round at their lodging at Pacific Islands Club Saipan.

“TVXQ is a South Korean band that also happens to be quite popular in our major tourist market of Japan, so we're quite fortunate to have them videotape here,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio. “Their visit provides a unique vehicle for us share the beauty of our islands with their many music fans throughout Asia.”

Since their debut in 2003, TVXQ has become one of the most popular singing groups in East Asia, gaining great popularity in such countries as China, Singapore, Thailand, and other East Asian regions. Their repertoire across these diverse markets ranges from a cappella to pop. (MVA)

[ACTS] Cassiopeians donate to the Fruit of Love charity

On behalf of Xiah Junsu's birthday on the 1st, his fans had decided to donate 9 million won (approx. $6,700) to a Korean Charity called "Fruit of Love." This donation was made under Junsu's name and has been made for the past few years. The fans stated that "rather than a present, we thought that it would be bigger and more meaningful to donate to a charity under Xiah Junsu's name."

Another group of fans, from the fan site DNBN, had also collected and donated 5 million won (approx. $3,700) to the charity for DBSK's 5th year anniversary.

Ah, those lovable Cassiopeians. You kids need to learn from these unnies (and oppas, I guess).

Source: AllKpop

From sharingyoochun@wordpress:

Recently, instead of spending all of their fanclub’s money to buy bling bling for the boys, Cassiopeia spare some of it for the needs.

On last December 14th, at Kwangwoon University’s Auditorium where Junsu’s fanclub members celebrated Xiah Junsu’s birthday titled XIAHDAY, 2000 fans gathered, instead of making a simple single party, they had a fund-raising event.

In this event, the fans sold a lot of cute stuffs such as wallet, cellphone ring, mouse pad, earrings, and other XIAH goods which successfully proceed 4.000.000 won (US$ 4000) that has been donated through Fruit of Love in the name of Xiah Junsu.

The donation certificate then was forwarded to Junsu as a birthday gift from them.

Junsu got his birthday present, and now the whole 5 also got their precious present to commemorate their 5 year debut anniversary.

At the 5th anniversary concert, shockingly some fans came not only to meet the boys, but also held a fund raising event right on the spot and successfully gained $500.

Not only from the on-the-spot fund raising, these Cassie, who held their event by the name “DNBN 2nd DONATION LOVETIC” also had had on line fund raising from December 9th to December 26th.

Beautiful DBSK Piano Covers

I decided to make a post on some recent piano covers I have find alot of them on the internet for DBSK (especially thanks to Lina, our buddy blogger, for transcribing so many for DA!)

These covers bring an added sentimental touch to these songs. I especially found Bolero cover to be even more breathtaking than the original song.

BOLERO by dorismusik

You can download this cover on her video page here.

DON'T SAY GOODBYE (Mirotic Album) by dorismusik

MIROTIC by chibiyumiii

Do you guys have recent favourite you want to share?

Speaking of piano, an internationally acclaimed Korean pianist wanted to play a peice for DBSK! That would be quite an honor if it were to happen.
You may have heard of him -- Yiruma. (Alot of Twilight fans might know who I am talking about, especially if you had heard the popular fan-suggested unofficial Bella's lullaby on Youtube which, combining other similar videos, had well over 3 million hits! River Flows In You is a song composed and played by Yiruma!)

Over at Dnbn, a TVXQ fan posted an article which featured Yiruma and in the article he stated:

"I want to give a music piece to an idol group like TVXQ."

Yiruma is a world famous Korean pianist / composer. He's 30 years old, born in Seoul but moved to London when he was a child. After his musical education, he moved back to Korea and started composing music for various venues (mostly dramas and movies). Although he had dual citizenship (Korean and British) he gave up his British citizenship so he could serve in the military for mandatory service (Navy back in 2006). He was discharged not too long ago and he married a former Miss Korea.

Yiruma stated that he wanted to make music for the idol group TVXQ / DBSK because he wanted to make music for a talented group. Yiruma makes some awesome piano pieces (some of the best in the world in my opinion). He made a nice one for K-flow (Kinetic Flow which you can listen to below). If he does make a piece for TVXQ, it's guaranteed to be a hit.

Walking 1-Band Corporation
5-member Male Group TVXQ Shoot Domestic Top Asia Goal
STAR 2009-01-13 12:00:04

TVXQ's first appearance on December 31 at Japan Tokyo Shibuya NHK Hall for the 59th NHK Kohaku strengthened their position in Japan, signifying a great ending for the year 2008. At the
Kohaku, Japan's most prestigious end-of-the-year festival, they judge strictly by the popularity on music sales, download and during awards season. The "Red and White Song Battle" divides the most popular music artists of the year into competing teams of red and white. TVXQ's 4 Japan singles were Oricon Weekly # 1's on the chart in consecutive weeks, establishing a record as the first foreign artist having the most number 1 in Japan, placing light to South Korea.

DBSK's 4th Album MIROTIC on January 6 by combining the offline and online sales total to 502,837, becoming also the first music artist to pass the half-million mark in five years since Kim Gun Mo's 8th album in 2003. Also, TVXQ were payed per CF an amount totalling to 800million won, proving their advertising influence.

[INFO] TVXQ 4th album MIROTIC through the half-million mark

TVXQ 4th album MIROTIC through the half-million mark
Star News Article January 8, 2009 08:52

[MTStarNews] The Youth Protection Committee classified TVXQ's 4th abum MIROTIC as harmful for the youth, but 100 days after the said album was released it has already reached 500,000 sales.

On the 8th, TVXQ's agency SMEntertainment said, "Since TVXQ's MIROTIC album was released September 26 last year until January 6 it has been sold online 167,697 copies, from off-line 335,140 copies amounting to after 103 days a total of 502,837 copies" they revealed.

This 2008 (the MIROTIC) album is among the all-time record-high sold. Not since Kim Gu Mo's 2003 8th album (Hestory) of 520,000copies has there ever been another artist that sold over 500,000.

TVXQ's album November last year was branded as having harmful lyrics by the Youth Protection Committee, but as if to mock the decision, album sales are increasing more and the phenomenon finally led to the breakthrough of the half a million mark.

Meanwhile, TVXQ is scheduled to have the 3-day (February 20-22), "TVXQ THE 3rd ASIA TOUR CONCERT-MIROTIC" at the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Stadium.

HAHAHA ~ TVXQ Attacks a Female High School

Sorry I am a few days late in putting this up... I had meant to right after the Japanese "school attack" show below (which if any of you have not watched, is great way to cheer-up ^^).

A newly released version for the HAHAHA commerical [well techically its not a commercial but a public message] for Samsung's campaign to spread happiness and laughter in these depressing times (i.e. recession). This time, the CF features high school students studying...encouranging them to cheer up and be positive~

^ From what I have read, the students in this class had no idea they were going to show up! TVXQ made a random "surprise attack," on a female high school and performed the "Hahaha" campaign song. The students blogged about this online after it was filmed and alot of people from other schools commented wishing they were the lucky ones to get this close-up exclusive performance XD The students in the school said they would be working even harder in their studies now that DBSK gave them this encouraging message.

DANCE Version

BTW, Goodluck to all those that have exams!

SM-YG-JYP, overseas into World War Three, who will be the winner?

[SPN News] At the beginning it was only BoA and TVXQ, both SMEntertainment, but now also Seven and BigBang of YG as well as Park Jin Young of JYP attacked the market of United States and Japan, launching the challenge with each other.

Among the overseas activities of singers, SMEntertainment's TVXQ, BoA and Super Junior are the most conspicious. But this year, YG and JYP also put forward a formal plan for the focus of overseas activities of their stars.

The first is SMEntertainment's BoA and TVXQ, witness to every singer's dream to stage for the American dream POP market and the world. TVXQ's 2nd record market is in Japan devoting all of their efforts as the focus of their activities.

Last year after appearing for the first time on NHK Kohaku debut in Japan the status of the show proved that they will continue to carry out activities in Japan without pause. TVXQ in mid-January this year will release their single Bolero while afterwards on March they will release a formal album. For the first half of this year, they plan to focus on activities in Japan. All four of their singles released last year recorded on Japanese Oricon Weekly Chart at number 1 equally to Arashi as having Most No.1 Oricon Weekly Singles record in a year in the Japanese market. The record also garnered a lot of Asian music people's attention.

[BLOG] JP Professor Gives High Appraisal to Tohoshinki @ Kohaku

Another file to archive into our Opinions and Blogs by other celebs and notable figures about DBSK.

Japanese Professor Ashida, a critic and writer, rates the Kouhaku performances yearly on his personal blog. The boys are 5th in the ranking with 80 points and he has a high review and regard of them, comparing them with top artists and biggest sellers in Japan, even as Kouhaku was his first time seeing/hearing the boys.

Note that the following ratings/review are Professor Ashida's personal opinion on his blog (not official). TV ratings based on how many people stayed tuned to watch Tohoshinki's performance are on this post.

His review:

『Purple Line~どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう?』 80点。
Street boysあたりをイメージして作っているのだろうけれども、そこまではいけないにしても日本の男性グループボーカルよりもはるかにいける。

This is a rough translation that someone did about their review.

8) Tohoshinki (First time performer)
Good, Tohoshinki. Its the first time I have listened to them. Songs are good. Certainly better than SMAP.

Even comparing with Exile, Gospellers they are better. Ballad sounds more powerful than Ken Hirai ... etc. Each member has their own individual personality to shine. Their image is probably created to be like Back Street Boys. Their vocals are much better than those Japanese boy groups so far.

The rest of the list of performers, based in the points they received by the Prof:

第1位:Perfume(初出場)『ポリリズム』 90点。

第8位: Mr.Children(初出場)『GIFT』 75点。

[ACTS] Yunho donates 600,000 won for Scholarship fund

Yunho of popular boy band, Dong bang shin ki visited his old high school, Kwang-il High school on January 2nd to pay respects to his teachers in the New Year. After meeting his teachers and signing for his hubaes (juniors), the DBSK member set up a scholarship fund of 600,000 won for 6 students. Afterwards, Yunho took 70 of the school people out to lunch (and hopefully paid).

And in parting, Yunho told his younger classmates to “dream big.”

Source: Popseoul

TVXQsoul reported:

Alumni TVXQ leader Yunho with his parents visited his alma mater Kwangil High School, 5 years after graduating last February 2004 when he was 19.

Yunho paid for the scholarships of 6 junior students and met with the principal and his previous teachers. He also had an autograph signing session and gave an inspirational speech for the success of the dreams of the students through having passion and then had a picture taken with some of his fans.

[SHOW] Dreams Come True: DBSK's Surprise Appearance at Japanese High School

OMG. I totally DIED with laughter, joy, and surprise watching this. This is like EVERY FAN'S DREAM COME TRUE! 3 lucky high schools got to realize this dream. [From TBS's show Sanma Tamaos Lets Help Your Dream Come True - Special.]

You must, I repeat YOU MUST watch this! It is currently one of the most-watched videos in Japan and Korea (under different links) You won't even need subs {English subs are out!}...the reactions alone are must-sees! I will try to put the download up for this in a couple of hours.

I highly recommend seeing the videos in Large HD quality here:

Part 1:
Part 2:

[Spoiler: This a SPECIAL episode, similar to the Korean "School Attack"/"School of Rock" show, however this program usually doesn't do this sort of thing. They did this surprise because the girls once revealed to TBS on camera that they wished to see the "cool" guys of Tohoshinki who are "awesome dancers" and dance with them. Well, they got their wish and some! Very touching episode and even more exciting and personal than School Attack.

If you didn't get the gist of what happened at the end of part 1, the girls are asked to learn the dance steps of Purple Line in a few hours and then perform in front of the ENTIRE school (on national television too!) with DBSK.]

[INFO] DBSK, SHINee, Rain - Unauthorized Usage of Music

In the aftermath of the completion of the various Gayo Daejuns in Korea, there was news last Friday that some singers had used some music for their performances without the required permission from copyright holders.

According to reports, DBSK leader U-Know Yunho and Rain had used Justin Timberlake Magic as the background music for their performances in the SBS Gayo Daejun and KBS Gayo Daechuk respectively. But the tune was apparently used without any permission being sought from the copyright holders. In addition, Shinee’s Taemin has also met with the same problem, using Usher Dat Girl Right There for his performance at the SBS Gayo Daejun.

A representative from SonyBMG who holds the rights for both songs expressed that Magic and Dat Girl Right There were songs that had not been released officially through any channels. They thus do not understand how they had gotten their hands on the songs. Although Magic was illegally uploaded in October last year but it wasn’t included in any of Justin Timberlake’s album thus they are wondering how did they get their hands on the track then.

DBSK and Shinee’s manager responded by saying that they didn’t know that the song was obtained through illegal means and expressed their regrets. Rain’s management, J. Tunes expressed that they did not use the music illegally on purpose but only knew that it was an American song. Some Korean netizens felt that it was a national insult. Even though the singers have called on fans not to download music illegally, why are they infringing on copyrights themselves?

[INFO] Kohaku ratings bounce back with White Team win

The audience ratings for NHK's 59th Kohaku Uta Gassen have been announced. Ratings were up from last year, reaching 35.7% for the first half and 42.1% for the second half.

The news was a welcome change, as the past two years had dipped below the 40% mark. The second half of the show had ratings of 39.8% in 2006 and 39.5% in 2007, which are the 3rd and 2nd worst performances in the show's history.

The first half ratings were also an improvement, climbing up from 30.6% in 2006 and 32.8% in 2007.

This Kohaku Uta Gassen was the fourth consecutive victory for the White Team (male artists), bringing their overall total record to 31 wins and 28 losses. It was a convincing win, as the White Team received nearly 206,000 votes compared to the Red Team's 112,000.

The boys actually received the second highest ratings during the first part of the show with 38.6% ratings. Ohashi Nozomi singing Gake no Ue Ponyo got the highest in the first part with 41.1%. The boys performing after her might have helped a little since her song is one of the year's most popular. Meanwhile, SMAP's performance drew the most rating with 47.9%.

[VID] Wake up with DBSK at 6am - First day of 2009

The year is looking GOOD. To make up for my lack of updates, I give you the first video/appearance of DBSK for 2009! Wohoo~! Happy New Years everybody :D

The boys look stellar and very happy on this bright and early morning show, even with their super tight, strenuous, and tough schedule (the PD shows their overnight schedule 2:04 on the show before they came on set). Now here is an example we can ALL follow when we have to go back to DREADED classes and school/work >_< ... whoops, I mean, YEY for classes! :D

These guys are killer role models for me when I feel like calling in sick and running away from work.

Terribly sorry I have been late at updating. I have been very sick for the past few days...^^; This made me feel a whole lot better though! XD

The much anticipated Kohaku performance (click on "CC" for english subtitles):

credit: joongiefied

They performed Doushite and Purple Line, their Oricon #1 hits.
Btw, both the MCs are people that DBSK has interacted with. The female MC is Mari Sekine from Music Station and the male is SMAP leader Nakai who runs a talk show DBSK and Koda Kumi were on together. I am glad to hear they both regard the boys so highly ^^

The performances have to be kept short because Kohaku is a competition between the male and female teams and multiple artists are invited to perform.
